Drake Snatches ‘Artist of the Decade’ Award Over At Billboard

Billboard announced today (05/11) that superstar rapper Drake has been named Artist of the Decade by the powers that be.

Of course we know that the announcement came with mixed reviews, but we bias AF over here at JunkieXperience.

Yes, give that man his things. And give them to him now.

Now, we may judge Drizzy for some of his choices, as well as his missteps; but we can’t deny that the man is talented and has worked his ass off to be in the position that he’s in today. From his first mixtape, Room for Improvement (2006) to his latest EP Scary Hours 2, Drake has evolved into one of the greatest artists of his generation.

Billboard knows what’s up. Currently, Drake holds a whopping number of Billboard awards– 27, to be exact. He is the only male artist to spend 50 career weeks at the top of the Billboard 100 chart. He has also had nine number-one albums on the Billboard 200 chart, and 33 top-10 hits on the Billboard 100 chart over the last decade.

I would say this upcoming accolade is well-deserved and we wish him many more throughout his career.

Drake will receive his Artist of the Year title at the Billboard Awards on Sunday, May 23, 2021 on NBC.

Check out one of our favorite tracks by Drake, off his Nothing Was the Same album from 2013.
