Superstar actor Idris Elba is taking a risk and following his dreams.
In a recent interview, Idris Elba, who is known for his stand out roles in HBO‘s The Wire and BBC‘s Luther, as well as movies like American Gangster and Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw, unapologetically expressed his undying love for music and revealed that he will take a break from acting to focus more on his music.
In case you didn’t already know, Idris, who also goes by DJ Big Driis, has performed at the 2019 Coachella Music Festival as well as at Prince Harry’s and Meghan Markle’s wedding reception back in 2018.
Music is not something that Idris just woke up and decided to do out of the blue. The well-known actor has been deejaying since he was a teenager. When he was 19, he was working at nightclubs in the London area as a DJ to support himself while he was between acting roles.
When asked about his decision, Idris stated: “Some may think, ‘Well, it will be the death of your acting if your music’s s–t.’I’ve dealt with the internal struggle of that over the years. So now I’m at peace and I’ve chosen: This is what I’m doing, and I’m going to do it. Some will love it and some will hate it” he said.
In my opinion, I think that he should chase his dreams, especially if that is what makes the man happy.
But, hopefully, he won’t just quit cold turkey and make an appearance or two in a television show or a movie.
Regardless of how it turns out, we will support Idris in all his endeavors!
