Irv Gotti Gets Criticized After He Reveals Real Cause of DMX’s Death [Audio]

In a recent interview with Chicago’s hip-hop radio station WGCI 107.5, Murder Inc. founder Irv Gotti revealed what he believed was the real cause of DMX’s untimely death.

Legendary rapper DMX, who passed away from an alleged overdose on April 9, was one of the first artists that Gotti signed to DefJam records in the 1990s. According to Gotti, their working relationship turned into a true, long-standing friendship between the two.

When asked by radio personality Kendra G where he was when he heard the news of DMX’s passing, Gotti emphasized that he “knew it was coming” because DMX’s family had revealed to him that the rapper was brain dead.

Gotti went on to disclose that DMX had contracted Covid-19 while he was in the hospital and had had difficulty breathing. Also Gotti claimed that he received further information from the family that the drugs that DMX were using were laced with fentanyl, a powerful synthetic opioid. Apparently the combination of crack-cocaine and fentanyl was what caused the late rapper’s death. Listen to a portion audio below:

After the interview was released, DMX fans took to Twitter to express their feelings about Gotti sharing this information. Many felt that Gotti was out of place and should have let those details come from the family, if that was something that they wanted to share.

I think that Gotti was just comfortable speaking about the subject and probably forgot for a minute that he was on the radio and not just speaking with friends and family over the phone.

After watching that portion of the interview, I couldn’t help but notice how his facial expression had changed once he realized that he may have said too much.

Following the internet backlash, WGCI pulled the audio and re-edited the interview to remove that portion.

What do you think?
