Tyler Perry’s Madea Returns…Young and Vibrant?

Atlanta movie mogul Tyler Perry has another Madea project in the works.

Yep, Madea is expected to hit the small screen on Showtime as a young twenty-something, maneuvering through the streets of Atlanta in the 1970s.

The project, titled Mabel, will depict Mabel Simmons as a smart, sassy, dangerous woman, who escapes her country living to chase her big city dreams.

According to Variety, Showtime has ordered multiple scripts for the developing series.

Tyler Perry (of course) and Tim Palen are the executive producers, while twin sisters, JaNeika and JaSheika James (Empire, Gossip Girl reboot)  have been tapped as writers.

This show sounds pretty interesting. The biggest question for me is who’s going to play the 20-something Mabel.
